New Entrants
Integration, Not Isolation, is What's Needed
New entrants to our nation’s airspace, particularly Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), have a great deal to gain from the effort to build a Brand New Air Traffic Control System. Modern airspace is friendly airspace for UAS integration.
A single automation platform would be most friendly for UAS. One that is designed to integrate, not isolate, and enable UAS to share the same system, tools, and airspace.
Some notable pros of a single automation system:
▶️ Scalable architecture would support growing UAS traffic and complexity;
▶️ Dynamic airspace tools would allow flexible entry without fixed segregation;
▶️ Trajectory-based operations would enable real-time coordination and predictability;
▶️ Route adherence and proximity alerts would enhance operational safety.
This kind of advanced system by its very design would evolve with policy, technology, and airspace structure. Exactly what we need.
